About me

Hello, I am a surface pattern and print textile and illustration designer with a keen interest in printmaking, surface manipulations development, colour palette making, graphic designing, eco-design, handcraft making, and weaving.

My project is influenced by folklore natural pigments and patterns used in Kerala, India on contemporary baby wears. I have given detail to pattern and printmaking using natural inks which are tannin-rich in nature and tend to have a long shelf-life. anthotype printing, block printing, stencil printing, flower stamping, bundle dyeing, ice-dyeing, tie-dyeing, cyanotype printing, Hand embroidery, Hand painting, etc. are the surface pattern methods used in this project. Betel leaf ink, Bean leaves ink, aracanut powder, lime powder, turmeric, jaggery, salt were the main ingredients used for this work.

Through this project, I intend to enhance the value and promote the usage of natural inks, taking babywear as a suitable medium to convey to the potential eco-consumers.

This project showcases creative, cost-effective, novel, and simple surface pattern and print design possibilities using natural inks, through contemporary babywear. The natural inks are derived from indigenous folklore stories, medicinal properties on the human skin, and the tannin-rich nature in them. This project is simple experimentation of the different possibilities in natural dyeing and printing methods using selected natural pigments through surface pattern techniques. This project helps to acknowledge the traditional history of natural dyes, promote their usage in current times, and to solve design cost management through the apt clothing sector for babywear.
