About me

My inspirations are rooted in nature and the flowers and plant life that we see around us. Through my practice, I have worked to interpret and replicate flowers through my chosen mediums. My patterns often start with going out into the garden or a space within nature and sketching the flowers and plants I find. I then create my patterns digitally.

The handmade aspect of my work is important to the outcome and my identity as a designer. Throughout my studies, I have been drawn to creating for the body and I was influenced by my background in fashion design to create an outcome that would showcase my floral pattern.

Patterns From The Garden explores the use of flowers and plant life within pattern and printed apparel. It also examines the appeal of handcrafted garments and the relationship between wearable pieces and floral pattern design. As a creative practitioner, I am drawn to flowers as visual inspiration and I enjoy illustrating the different shapes, forms and textures. I have combined my surface pattern designs with my garment construction skills to create a mini collection of handcrafted pieces adorned with large floral motifs.
