About me

I’ve gained many skills and techniques during my time at university. All elements of my work have greatly improved by taking onboard great advice from the tutors, guest lecturers, technicians and fellow classmates. My strengths cover CAD, trend forecasting, market research, graphic layouts and illustration work. Due to enjoying all these areas of fashion, I hope to pursue a career where I can develop these skills further.

In my final-year I really improved on my practical skills, such as pattern cutting and sewing. This was due to attending online sessions and workshops delivered by the course team – they have really helped me become even more competent and confident.

Some of my best experiences at UCLan have been trips to inspirational events and exhibitions. My favourite being a trip to the Christian Dior Museum in London, which was such a magical and inspirational experience.

My collection has a horticulture concept, influenced initially by my family’s heritage in this sector. This gradually developed further due to the fast growth in the style and fashion associated with the gardening market. A positive that has come from the lockdown months where nature and growing your own has engaged much more people. My ‘Greenhouse Effect’ collection looks at the practicalities of garments that support the pursuit of gardening, combined with researching clothing from family photographs dating back to the 1800s.
