Hello! I’m Dylan Swarbrick, a video game designer who aspires to create levels which are memorable, creative, fun, and successfully guide the player.
My main inspirations in designing levels are taken from retro Nintendo games which did not feature in-game tutorials. Players would thus have to figure out the rule of the game through experimentation.
Video games have shaped me as a person; they have allowed me to grow. They are a great tool for developers to explore meaningful ideas through storytelling, create beautiful visuals, and captivating music. People can learn and develop their problem solving and logical thinking skills through mechanics and gameplay. Level design is one such area I can get across a game’s ideas, teaching players how the game works, and its key functions.
