About me
Throughout my time at uni, I have gained a range of skills such as pattern cutting, garment making and CAD. I have taken part in a live brief and experimented with designing womenswear, menswear and kidswear. I enjoy drawing fashion illustrations digitally and allowing myself to be creative. My final collection, an Elvis based project, was showcased on the catwalk at Graduate Fashion Week 2023 and my portfolio was selected to be shown on their website.
For my collection, I focused on detailed embellishments when making these garments and combined sustainability with luxurious fashion. In terms of future career plans, I hope to start my own business and sell my own garments, or work for a fashion design company.
My final collection was inspired by Elvis after a trip to his Graceland mansion in Memphis, followed by Las Vegas. The glitz and glamour of this city combined with Elvis’ iconic style was reflected in my work, creating a bold and flashy line up. I focused on white, flared outfits inspired by his jumpsuits and added my own feminine, sexy twist. To embellish, I sewed over 1000 buttons, glued 10,000 gems and used sustainable decorations – vintage jewellery from friends’ relatives and everyday items like safety pins. My fabric was deadstock and the white background allowed each colour to pop.
