I am passionate about surface pattern design and enjoy the creative design process of drawing from my primary images, to taking the images digitally, to creating the final product. I like to base my work around bringing memories from our journey through life to the modern day to make people feel joy and nostalgia when seeing my work.
Over the past 3 years I have developed my CAD skills to create patterns and found a love for traditional print processes such as screen printing, mono-printing and etching to develop my patterns.
My project is inspired by my weekend away to the Seaside Town, Whitby, a trip I do yearly with my family since I was a baby. I wanted to capture the quintessential British holiday through my patterns by focusing on the common things we find when holidaying in the UK and turn them into bright and fun patterns which have then been put onto gift wrap and greeting cards. When creating this collection, I ensured that my patterns would bring emotions of nostalgia, joy and happiness when seen and evoke people to reminisce about their own childhood UK holidays.
