Architecture (Foundation Entry)

About me

I chose to study architecture because I really enjoy drawing and sketching – especially buildings and houses. But I didn’t know for sure what I wanted to do in the future, only that it was going to be something to do with art. Since the Year 8 I studied woodwork technology at my high school in London. I didn’t know whether I was going to love it or hate it, because I always thought that these types of lessons were for boys. But then I started making small 3D designs which surprisingly I loved, and from there it was something I became passionate about and the lessons were something that I looked forward to every week. It allowed me to be creative with my ideas and experiment with different materials.

For my final project I chose a design that would not have an awkward angle. I wanted to have a circular shape but not fully, so I produced octagon. I did not want the roof of the gallery to be flat and I wanted a design that could receive daylight and moonlight at the same time. I was undecided for a short time as to what type of work I was going to have in my gallery - film, music, or illusion. But I chose music because I like listening to music because it makes me happy.
