Hi I’m Hex Gregson an art and textile maker based in the North. I base my work mainly on historical themes, the natural world and pop culture
My chosen techniques are Crochet, Sewing and Watercolour Painting, which is what I used for my Honour’s. I find crochet and sewing to be something exciting to do to distract me from my pain when I’m resting in bed from my medical condition. Art and Textiles have helped me get through difficult times and I would like to show that to everyone. I am disabled, but I’ve still been “abled” to do a degree and you can too.
For my serendipitous project I have based all my work from paintings with grandeur, and interiors with prowess. History has played a defining role in developing my personal portfolio and expanding my knowledge of design. With this collection I wish to demonstrate how I can bring my passion for older styles of textile design into the 21st century. This began with inspirations from Victorian, Georgian and Pre-Raphaelite paintings, styles, and textiles. All of my degree show have been based heavily on local manor houses, including Leven’s hall who I’ve worked with and made a dress inspired by their topiary gardens.
