About me

Using documentary-style photography and a mix of art mediums I have successfully completed my degree with high marks and a sense of pride. As I mainly shoot in analog photography my skills in the darkroom and printing excel beyond what I had thought possible. Focusing on understanding ethics in photography I have received a first on my dissertation about the importance of caring about what and who we photograph.

Always The Alien is an attempt to understand the experience of not belonging, the alienation that occurs when you don’t have a sense of belonging or are unable to fully assimilate due to varying cultural and social norms, simply based on where you were born and where you grew up. Exploring the difficulty of alienation as a detachment from her surroundings, Jade Weir applied a childish outlook on the archived selection of photographs used; to better comprehend how her experience affected who she is and how she feels today.
