About me

My name is Julia Wight, I am a third-year undergraduate student studying Dance Performance and Teaching. Some things that are important to me include: punctuality, organisation, engagement and being supportive. I am currently working as a teaching assistant at my local dance school where I help teach children aged 6-9 years old in the styles of ballet and tap. Before doing this I also had experience helping teach ballet at a different dance school, however, this age range was slightly younger and I helped with ages 3-7. As part of my course I was very fortunate to take part in placements within both Primary and Secondary schools. From this experience I have realised that I would like for my future career to be working in a Primary school as a teacher.

My final Independent Project focused on exploring how I can use imagery to develop my facilitation skills. In it I researched that imagery has many different forms. For example visual imagery was something I looked at. As a third-year dance student I have also been a member of UCLan Dance Company and I was involved in the devising of a new performance under the guidance and artistic direction of professional choreographer Elisa Macauley.
