During my time studying Illustration at UClan, I have learned many valuable skills that have helped me to improve and refine my work. A passion for animals and nature has helped define my practice and themes for my projects, and I have a love for creating handmade textures which I incorporate into my work digitally.
One project that I feel has been key in the development of my work is my self-initiated brief, where I chose to create an interactive and educational children’s book – ‘The Happy Hamster Handbook’. The idea to make this book came from the observation that there is a lack of books about animal and pet care that have an illustrated and fun approach. I used a combination of handmade and digital techniques to give life and personality to the hamster characters in the book.
