About
I'm an illustrator who is passionate about nature; almost all my art comes back round to nature some way or another even if it's sometimes not intended. I love the weird and wonderful ways nature can look and I have a special interest in the deep ocean. My art tends to manifest itself in a colourful and almost cartoon style, however I have a soft spot for textiles and mixed media art, which is reflected in the work produced studying fine art at collage. I'm working towards becoming an art teacher because I've always liked the idea of being able to inspire others in the way that art inspired me as a kid especially as a person with dyslexia, I have always found art and imagery to be the best universal language for the communication of ideas, feelings and especially for activism!
Project overview
Self initiated/ Deep sea bedroom
I created a collection of illustrations designed around deep sea creatures that people often find to be scary. I wanted to create a bedroom set that might inspire children to love and care about these creatures. Even though they may look unusual, these creatures are just as important to the world as every other part of the ecosystem. I produced this collection to ideally be sold by IKEA so I focused on bright and colourful pattern making that went along with a couple of select products such as the bed side lamp and pyjamas. Throughout this project I used a range of techniques from digital design to fabric transferring and papier-mâché.
