I am a photographer who loves travelling, hiking, seeing cities and dawn and exploring. My degree show work focuses on documenting and photographing my hometown, Southport. Where i was reminiscing childhood memories and favourite places around the town. I love seeing the beauty in everything, even if it takes a minute or two to look a little closer. I adore perspective, being in the moment, being in open spaces and treasuring where I am. That to me is something so special and something I want to hold onto for the future. I also love to create books, having a physical copies of my work as well as digitally. Which is something i got from going to university and seeing all the amazing photo books i was lucky to have seen, inspiring me to do the same. My dream in life is to travel around the world, to be able to see as much as I possibly can. Experiencing the different cultures, lifestyles and exploring places I've only dreamt of seeing. I will be taking my first steps of travelling at the end of the year, where i will be going to Australia for a year and hopefully travelling through Asia afterwards. I’m very much looking forward to life after university and the opportunities i will have.
Project overview
Yellow Brick Road
My project focuses on documenting my hometown, Southport. Reminiscing about childhood memories and my favourite places. ‘Yellow brick road’ is a goodbye project for me and the town I grew up in, as I’m planning on going travelling at the end of the year. It is a way of looking back over the years, remembering where I grew up and what is around me. By taking the time to not only photograph Southport but to explore and reminisce my life here was quite special for me. Having that butterfly feeling from rooting through my baby box, finding favourite childhood toys, to the parks and arcades I loved to play in, fields I used to walk through on my way to and from school, ending with iconic and favourite spots in town. I will cherish this project of Southport as times goes on, it has made me realise that no matter where I am in life, my hometown as any other is special, it’s safe, its home and it always will be.
