About
Asmaa – Artist Biography My name is Asmaa, and I’m an artist who draws with intention—to offer solutions, share culture, and express emotions in the way I know best: through art and design. I’m an interior designer, graphic designer, and content creator with a deep passion for creating spaces and visuals that not only look good but feel right. I design with a future-forward mindset, often incorporating eco-friendly materials to contribute to a more sustainable world. My goal is to create spaces where people feel confident, seen, and empowered—spaces that reflect their visions while bringing my unique perspective to life. Visual learning has always been my strength, and it’s what led me down the path of design. I’ve never been drawn to the ordinary. My style is distinct, ever-evolving, and rooted in creativity and innovation. I take pride in crafting designs that challenge the expected and speak louder than words. Passionate and hard-working, I carry countless ideas that I hope to bring into the world—each one a testament to what I’m capable of.
Project overview
Honours project-Room. 404
Room 404: Reconnecting Through Design Set in one of Preston’s most socially complex postcodes, Room 404 responds to the growing disconnect among young adults in a generation shaped by caution, digital dependency, and diminishing public trust. Borrowing its name from the “404 Not Found” internet error, the project reframes the concept of being ‘unreachable’ or ‘lost’—offering, instead, a space where people can plug back in. What begins as a metaphor for disconnection becomes an architectural invitation to be found again—through shared experiences, human presence, and meaningful interaction. The design transforms a neglected site into an introvert-friendly internet café that nurtures reconnection through spatial comfort, digital education, and playful interaction. With layered symbolism drawn from gaming culture—such as Sony controller shapes, Pac-Man, and Tetris—the café embodies a journey through past, present, and future, giving users a subtle sense of nostalgia, personal progress, and belonging. Each floor supports different modes of engagement, from private, cocoon-like pods to communal zones for e-sports and conversation. Free access to digital tools and informal education fosters creativity, offering a constructive alternative to boredom, isolation, and anti-social behaviour. With adaptive lighting, minimal face-to-face pressure, and warm material choices, the space prioritises mental well-being and autonomy. Come as you are. Plug in. Zone out. Stay connected.
