About
I am a Textile Design student currently specialising in womenswear and accessories design. I'm passionate about inventing placement prints and producing rug tufting. I am very enthusiastic about conceptual curations generated from visual inspiration. Through 3rd year I've explored the beauty found within insects, beetles and butterflies via surface pattern, manufacturing and tufting. UCLAN allowed me to have the opportunity to be part of a live brief with Cosatto, resulting in work placement.
Project overview
Wings of Transformation
Through my wing of transformation collection, I have drawn inspiration from the delicate structure and vibrant patterning of butterfly wings. I have utilised a tactile and sensory-focused lens. My theme shows the idea of growth, change, and evolution which is inspired by the metamorphosis of a butterfly. I wanted to capture this by using both free flowing fabric and structured silhouettes, featuring layered organza, laser-cut cottons and perspex, rug tufted and wired elements.
