About
I have always been passionate about the creative world from a very young age, through nursery up into my degree in Interior Design. Creativity has consistently been a way for me to express ideas, explore environments and develop a strong sense of purpose through art and design. Having been in care from the age of 13, I developed a strong drive to succeed and build a future through creativity and hard work. These experiences shaped both my personal outlook and my approach to the world and design, encouraging me to want to create spaces that feel thoughtful, welcoming and emotionally connected to the people using them. Over time, I discovered a particular passion for interior design itself, combining my interest in visual storytelling, atmosphere and our experience's within space's. My work often explores wellbeing, community, adaptive reuse and the relationship between traditional design values and how a space should feel. I am especially interested in how interiors can provide comfort, identity and escapism within an increasingly technological and busy world. Outside of design, I enjoy travelling and exploring new places, particularly cultural and architectural spaces that inspire different ways of thinking about interiors and experience. I also enjoy creating art as it gives me endless creativity, comfort and a sense of calm. These experiences continue to influence my creative perspective and approach as a designer.
Project overview
Built by Life
The project reimagines the former Post Office building in Blackpool as an inclusive community space designed to support wellbeing, connection and opportunity for people from all walks of life. Responding to the growing issues of vulnerability, homelessness, addiction, social isolation and exploitation within Blackpool, the proposal aims to create an environment where support can be accessed without judgement or stigma. The design brings together spaces for rehabilitation, short-stay accommodation, therapy and consultation, community activities and social interaction, encouraging a sense of belonging and togetherness. Alongside support services, the project also focuses on creating opportunities through employment, skill-building and community-led experiences such as gardening, food growing and shared social spaces. Inspired by calm, traditional interiors and neutral material palettes, the design offers a sense of comfort and escape from the pressures of modern life and the increasingly technological world. Existing architectural features of the historic building have been respected throughout, allowing the heritage of the former Post Office to remain visible while giving the space a renewed purpose for the future. Overall, the project explores how interior design can positively contribute to both people and place, transforming a neglected building into a safe, welcoming and restorative environment that promotes community, dignity and long-term regeneration within Blackpool.
