About

You could say my study has been with me all my life. Living in such a beautiful rural environment, the Lake District, gave me easy access to what was around me. Although it was many years before I made the connection and recognition that the freedom within natural environment I enjoyed so much fuelled a much greater creative energy. My work is an extension of who I am, the environment around me, where I come from, and where I feel most at "home".

Project overview

THE SPIRIT OF THE HILLS

My work is full of energy and expression, capturing the qualities of local landscapes through the clay's wonderful, rich earthy natural tones. Working with textured coloured stoneware clay creates richness and depth in my work. Glazes and oxides are sometimes applied to enhance the colours and finishes of the ceramics. This process not only adds an element of spontaneity and organic beauty to the pieces but also serves as a metaphor for the transformative power of nature and the passage of time. My work primarily consists of textural abstract free-standing piece's, on a plinth or wall mounted. They are statement pieces, each one unique, inviting the viewer to contemplate and reflect.
