About
Hi, I’m Eleanor Finch and I am a 23-year-old MA student for fashion and lifestyle promotion. I am an outgoing and sociable person who uses a creative eye to see the beauty within, to tell a story with my work. Being creative allows me to express my struggles and design something beautiful. There isn’t any pressure to be 100% right as sometimes your design mistakes can be the best outcome. Over the last 4 year studying at UCLan, I have gained confidence, in not only my work but myself. With positive and negative feedback, I have been able to develop and improve my work in the process. Fashion has been a struggle for me personally throughout the years and I want to use my creativity to bring something new to the fashion industry. Previously, I studied BA fashion design at UCLan, so whilst studying as a fashion and lifestyle promotion student, I brought my knowledge and experiences into a new aspect of fashion for me personally. The course has enhanced my skills in promotion, so when I do start a business, I know the steps and work that goes into promoting the brand. Especially with social media, I know to choose the right platforms and have a well thought out strategy with brand identity. Connecting with the customer audience, to know what they want and need. My ambition is to create a brand, revolving around adjustable clothing that not only provides style but comfort too.
Project overview
North Avenue
North Avenue is an inclusive streetwear clothing brand that focuses on all different types of body shapes to give an improved fit of clothing for women. We priorities body shapes by creating adjustable clothing that allows the consumers to adjust their clothing to their body, giving the customer freedom on how they want to wear or style their clothing. The adjustable clothing won’t just be on the waist, it will include a variety of adjustments in varies places like side adjustments to adjust the width of the pant leg. So far, the adjustments that have been used are popular especially with streetwear, including shoelaces, toggles and buckles with straps. North Avenue also has an unfamiliar sizing guide, as the sizing will be a combination of general numerical sizing, like size 8, size 10 etc, and creating size 1, size 2. this aims to stop women from buying new clothing because their body is fluctuating, it is natural and to reduce returns. Throughout the semester, I will be researching and improving North Avenue, by creating a connected brand identity like a logo, packaging, swing tags etc, start of production, including the first adjustable pants and promotional content to promote my brand in the future for the release of the s/s25 collection. AS I struggle with clothing due to my body type, and this brand is built on that struggle and to generate a fresh clothing brand that will help other women with the current clothing difficulties which they might be facing.
