About
As an aspiring architecture student, I have seen major growth over the past 3 years, developing skills and knowledge that will help me thrive in the industry. From learning about how people interact with spaces and how to create an atmosphere that suits the building's use case. Being fascinated by how light can be manipulated within a space, as well as how materiality can change a space, gives a real insight into what makes a successful building. Also, looking into the importance of structure and the more technical side of architecture gives knowledge on how these projects can be feasible, not just hypothetical.
Project overview
Reel tide studios
Reel Tide Studios is a stop motion animation studio located in Fleetwood, Lancashire. Aiming to be a strong contributor to bringing life back to the dying town, the building and company look to highlight the best of Fleetwood, attracting tourists to the town. The building operates as a multi-use facility with both public and private sectors working in cohesion as one big machine. With all the in-house workshops and studio, the films can be made and produced all from the same centre. In addition to this offering, learning opportunities in the form of classes and live demos for the public visiting the site are strongly linked to social sustainability. The building also offers a large, expansive shop for artefacts to be purchased by visitors, putting money back into the company and the town beyond.
