About
I am mixed media illustrator with a background in fine art and print making. I am most interested in editorial work with a passion for travel, food and botanical illustration. My practice has changed a lot over the last few years and I have enjoyed experimenting with materials, styles and techniques.
My preferred practice and style is ink drawing and collage, showcasing my hand drawn textured imagery, and refining digitally. I have always been drawn to creative subjects and loved to play around with materials, but through school had no idea of where art could lead me.
After a few years of collage, travelling and being very stubborn about not going to university, I decided to look into illustration. I loved fine art but struggled to see where it could take me; illustration has focused my creativity and opened my eyes to how I can apply my art in industry. Project overview
Traveller Illustrators Guide
My final project has been an illustrated insert/zine intended for National Geographic, finding articles to inspire image making and create a whole new perspective of travel. The insert covers various topics such as attractions, history, food, and more, to intrigue the reader, to learn more about the destinations and to see the experience through the eyes of a creative traveller.
This project was inspired by my love of travelling and experimenting, I've found that through university I have thoroughly enjoyed the variation of projects we have been given, and I wanted to take the opportunity with my final project to explore multiple topics in editorial, to give a wide range of illustrations in a cohesive and engaging tone.
