About

Hello, my name is Jessica, and I am a final year photography student here at the University of Lancashire. I started this journey when I was 16 years old, studying this subject in college and furthering my studies into university. My specialisms involve photographing the everyday, creating art from the normal. I also have a keen interest in archive, having used archive material in past photography projects, and going on to studying this for a master’s degree.

Project overview

Liminal Spaces

For this project, I focused on liminal spaces, developing this idea for most of my third year. This project started off as simply taking photos of existing liminal spaces, areas that are not defined by a personality or owned by one person. They are areas of transition, a hallway or an airport. After doing this I wanted to develop the project further, so instead I began creating liminal spaces from ordinary spaces. The end result was these three images, I have turned the normal into abnormal.
