About

My name is Kerry Howarth and I am currently a final year textiles student specialising in surface pattern design at The University of Central Lancashire.

Highly motivated, organised and creative, I have a keen eye for colour, detail and pattern, constantly seeking innovative ways to grow and learn.

My practice is grounded in hand drawing and digital methods and I like to find inspiration everywhere I go, bringing both my passions and everything I love to life through my designs. I am very excited to share my work with you and showcase my final project during my time at university.

Project overview

Regal Charms

'Regal Charms' is a high- end interiors collection inspired by the Tower of London Menagerie. My surface pattern designs capture the beauty of the exotic animals that were once kept at the Tower along with elements drawn from regal architecture, history, culture, vintage finds and British heritage.

The combination of hand drawn illustrations along with digital methods taken from first and second-hand imagery allows for exciting outcomes and encourages a personal connection towards the viewer as well as adding a sense of narrative. A muted colour palette mixed with lively hues bring together a burst of energy to the historical animal motifs creating a new aesthetic.
