About
Artistically speaking, the medium of games is still not fully explored. Agential art, at the level of complexity video games allow, lacks the centuries of refinement that traditional mediums have. However, I see this as a positive, as there is still so much space for development which I hope to be a part of.
I enjoy being challenged; whether mechanically in my favourite games, such as Rain World and Getting Over It with Bennet Foddy, or intellectually through reading classic books like Watership Down. This love of challenge bleeds into my own work. I enjoy developing difficult games and continuously pushing myself to learn new things. I actively pursue projects that require me to use unfamiliar systems and tools, and I even recently went through the terror of learning HTML to build my own website.
In an ideal world I would have the time to learn how to do quite literally everything. But as I am only human learning how to make good games will do for now!
Project overview
Rubicon Junction
Rubicon Junction is a surreal, pixel-art precision platformer built independently in the Godot engine.
You play as Oil, a swift-footed little creature shaped from the remnants of long dead creatures, exploring an abandoned and very dangerous world. Secrets paths and collectable tickets abound, requiring a self-driven want to explore and experiment. The player must discover new movement techniques, as well as refining their understanding of and skill utilising the movement abilities at their disposal to find all that the game has to offer.
The game is still in development, as I aim to expand this project out into a full, small-scale release.
