About
I’m a graphic designer who loves diving into digital illustration, brand design, and packaging. I would describe my work as bold, vibrant with lots of patterns, and nods to the things I adore. My MA project, "Sounds of Nostalgia," brings all of this together, combining my love for music with my design skills to create something truly special. Growing up in Malaysia with Pakistani roots and a background in Business and Digital Media studies, I’ve got a mix of experiences that fuel my current creative work. I love blending these bits and pieces of my life into my designs to create projects that are diverse, experimental and unique as my journey.
Project overview
Sounds of Nostalgia
"Sounds of Nostalgia" is an album that dives into the deep connection between music and nostalgia. Music has this incredible way of bringing us back to important moments in our lives through its melodies, rhythms, and lyrics. This project focuses on how that works for people with memory loss, like those dealing with dementia or Alzheimer’s. The album features five remixed versions of the 1920 classic "When You’re Gone, I Won’t Forget" by the Peerless Quartet. Each track is designed to mirror the fragmentation and distortion of memory that comes with dementia and Alzheimer’s. The music starts off distorted and haunting, but by the third track, there’s a noticeable clarity, representing how memories can briefly sharpen when nostalgia hits. However, the song gradually becomes distorted again, symbolizing the fading of that nostalgic memory. The project includes a 12” gatefold vinyl cover, a 12” vinyl disc, an insert poster, and a booklet that features the artwork for all the tracks.
