About

I have a strong interest in design and finding sustainable alternatives within it. Throughout my academic year, I have developed a passion for exploring and testing different design materials for all my projects and how each material can influence an aesthetic within a space. I've also enjoyed learning new skills and software e.g., SketchUp and AutoCAD. I see my foundation year as a large step into the world of design within the architectural industry.

Project overview

stilt houses- Aoc002 final project

Situated on the north embankments of Avenham Park, the garden has a tree-house aesthetic that can act as camouflage and provide privacy to its inhabitants. My stilt house design was inspired by flowers and their ergonomic shape. I firstly had the idea of making each room an individual pod and then have the stilts from the bee idea to support the structure. I then thought of the idea as one floor, but then the problem was picturing the flat roof being a patio, which I didn’t want. So, I divided it into two different pods, one for the public plus guests, which includes a kitchen, dining room, and a garage workshop. The other pod is more private and has the library the 2 ensuite bedrooms and living room with a garden greenhouse terrace underneath.
