About

Having an interest in drawing, design and creating from an early age, studying architecture became a clear choice for me. It began to fascinate me how architecture is a human experience, something that we witness in our everyday lives, from when we wake up, to work, for leisure and for fun, nostalgia, memories, comfort, etc, we experience architecture and its output in nearly every aspect of our lives Architecture is at an exciting point of change, through the development of new technologies, materials, strategies and aims I feel that Architecture of the future is something that I would like to be apart of. Throughout my time at UCLAN I was drawn to architectural design and the impact of sustainable building practices, where I gained experience in conceptual design and structural analysis. My skills within the field have significantly improved and I now have good skills in AutoCAD, Sketchup and Procreate, allowing me to create 3D models, axonometric drawings and accurate floor plans. alongside this I have improved my drawing ability, allowing me to coherently demonstrate the development of my projects and to create digital renderings on Procreate. In the future, I aim to explore different software, to accurately demonstrate structural analysis and to refine my architectural renderings. In the future, I aspire to progress onto the part 2 Architecture course and complete my Master’s Degree, focused on creating sustainable concept designs that include new materials and technologies, and I am eager to begin and progress my professional career within the industry.

Project overview

The Creativity Village

When designing the Creativity Village, my aim was to create a new and exciting artistic hub for the community of Fleetwood so that they can collaborate and gather as a community and have a space for exhibitions, artistic studios as well as teaching and learning spaces. The Creativity Village is a relatively open planned building to allow free flow throughout the building, so the occupants are able to see each other and talk, as well as having the choice to pick the size of their chosen area based off their required need with the use of moving partition walls and planters. The building has a total of 4 skylight chimneys as well as a spacious courtyard on the ground floor to allow for extra sunlight and for a space to relax and get fresh air. On the upper floor, the Creativity Village is designed to have a rooftop garden as an inspiration space and to allow there to be an outdoor space that is separate to the other section of the upper floor, which would actively act as an exhibition space. As a space for younger and aspiring artists, the Village’s studios are located facing the waterfront to reconnect Fleetwood and the community back to the sea and their rich history surrounding shipping.
