About
I am a final year fashion design student with a very artisan, abstract and slow-fashion approach to my creative work. My final collection is a vibrant mix of textures, colours, and unique cultural inspired tribal silhouettes. Inspired by individuality and self-expression everything I make tells a story and celebrates diversity. I love experimenting with natural dyeing my fabrics and trying various techniques that create striking and wearable one-off pieces while also embracing comfort and confidence. My designs reflect my passion for pushing boundaries and creating fashion that feels alive and personal. As I prepare to enter the industry I can't wait to see where this journey goes.
Project overview
Musaafir
Musaafir is a menswear collection inspired by the silhouettes of tribal culture and clothing in western India combined with a contemporary menswear aesthetic. For most of my fabrics I chose to go with natural fibres and naturally dyed some of them because my concept was based on Indian tribal people who wear their clothes till they are threadbare, which they then repair, endorsing a more sustainable approach to clothing and ultimately something we must adopt in fashion.
The colours and silhouettes are mainly inspired by the individuals in my research and the villages they live in, a region where my family are from. Even though this is a menswear collection it has a unisex appeal to it and is gender-fluid in my eyes. I created this collection for everyone who loves considered artisan clothing that is desired beyond gender roles and aesthetics.
