About
I am a 3D textile artist specializing in mixed media sculptures, focusing on creating articulated, soft-bodied figures with customizable resin extremities. My work emphasizes collaboration with clients to design personalized sculptures that reflect their unique vision. By combining my extensive skills in both digital and traditional art, I am able to bring these creations to life, providing detailed visualizations before the actual construction process begins. This approach ensures that each sculpture is a true representation of the client's imagination, blending traditional craftsmanship with modern technology to produce one-of-a-kind, bespoke art pieces.
Project overview
Dollusion
My project is inspired by traditional and modern Japanese Ball Jointed Dolls (BJDs), which are made fully articulated to mimic the movements of a person. These dolls sparked my idea of designing and making a doll which can be customised, has interchangeable parts, yet can also be hugged and played with. Rather than being ornamental, looking pretty on shelf, my dolls are active, they are designed to be used interactively and enjoyed. The dolls are fully articulated with moving parts, they are soft bodied and malleable. Completed individual dolls are a unique mixed media three-dimensional tactile fabric sculpture which combines tradition and innovation: hands-on making and design skills with digital design skills. Dolls are designed and adapted to individual commissions specifications and requests. Whilst clients can view a catalogue of exciting diverse designs and inspiration, they are fully involved in the design process and the creation of their very own unique posable three-dimensional character.
