Project overview
Enlightened Nature S/S26
This collection is inspired by Wang Ximeng’s iconic Song Dynasty painting “A Thousand Li of Rivers and Mountains”, in which I will create a dialogue between classical art and modern fashion by designing a contemporary sportswear collection. Sports elements such as functionality, drawstrings and stripes will be incorporated within my designs alongside traditional Chinese elements like Pankou knotted buttons and Mandarin collars. I intend to fuse historical elements with sports technology within my designs bridging heritage and innovation.
Studying the painting mentioned earlier I have created a colour palette utilising the serene greens, mineral blues, and parchment beiges and my silhouettes translate the flowing scenic landscapes into elegant athletic silhouettes. Mountain shapes will also be recreated with tulle fabric undulating across my garments. A vibrant rose pink accents the collection, symbolising passion and femininity while emphasising the ancient colour palette in the painting. The subject matter in the painting celebrates nature’s harmony translated through luxurious yet functional designs—where the sheen of silk satin echoes water reflections, and breathable cotton twill grounds the ethereal aesthetic. More than a crossover of art and fashion, this collection embodies a cultural conversation across centuries.
