About
Throughout my time at the University of Lancashire, I have developed an understanding of architecture as a critical and socially engaged practice, exploring how context-responsive design can address environmental responsibility and support community regeneration. Throughout my studies, I have undertaken design projects across Preston, Glasgow and Fleetwood, engaging with a variety of building typologies including retrofit interventions and mixed-use developments. Alongside these projects, I have gained extensive skills in industry-standard design software, including AutoCAD, Revit, TwinMotion, Photoshop, etc. During my summer breaks, I have dedicated time to further develop these technical abilities through independent learning and online tutorials. I am eager to further develop my technical knowledge and professional experience within an architecture studio, contributing to projects that create a meaningful community impact while continuing to refine my skills as a designer.
Project overview
Lord Street Tileworks
Fleetwood’s High Street was once a thriving retail culture. Due to economic struggles, the high street no longer functions as the dominant social hub it once was. My proposal looks to reimagine a once-central retail landmark as a productive community space for making, learning and socialisation. The former M&S building on lord street has been neglected for numerous years, with multiple failed retail attempts. Many articles online have labelled this building as a persistent eyesore within the high street. Through an adaptive reuse strategy, my proposal works with the existing fabric of the department store, creating flexible workshop zones and spaces for teaching and collaboration. Introducing these spaces to Fleetwood hopes to act as a catalyst for economic regeneration within Fleetwood as a whole.
