About
My name is Tilly and my love for fashion and textiles started from my grandparents, my
grandma used to make clothes for my family and my nan had a love for sewing teddy
bears and selling them at markets and car boot sales. From them I learned how to use a
sewing machine and how to design basic things like pillows and toys. My love for creating
only grew and my desire to design clothes started as I wanted to learn how to create a
wardrobe full of clothes I have made. Coming to uni has allowed me follow my passion
and made me realise that my dream would be to see someone else walk down the street
in something that I have designed.
Project overview
The line of fire
My project was inspired my Dad and my memories growing up as him working as a firefighter. My childhood home is filled with stories from the fire station, old helmets, boots and actual bricks from the buildings now live in my garden and house as ornaments. My Dad's career was a key part of me growing up and I have so many memories visiting him at work, these memories started the inspiration into making a collection inspired by him. Heavy objects, oversized silhouettes and durable fabrics were just a few features I wanted to include to bring a fashion collection inspired by my dad to life.
