About

As a fashion designer, I value everyone’s personal taste and believe clothing should

express a unique identity. Studying fashion design in both South Korea and the United

Kingdom has helped me develop my technical skills and creative vision while broadening

my understanding of different cultural perspectives. Recently, I have been drawn to the

feminine aesthetic, soft, fluffy, and silky looks that feel both playful and elegant.

Moving forward, I hope to build my own brand by combining thoughtful market analysis

with a clear understanding of my target audience, creating designs that are both

distinctive and meaningful.

Project overview

Harmony

My final collection and Experimental Silhouette Investigation were developed during my exchange year at the University of Lancashire, where I studied BA (Hons) Fashion Design. Living and working alongside people from diverse cultural backgrounds allowed me to appreciate the harmony that emerges from understanding and embracing our differences. This idea became the foundation of my collection, which draws inspiration from two historical periods that represent my home and host countries: Korea’s Joseon Dynasty and Britain’s Victorian era. By combining the silhouettes, craftsmanship, and aesthetic values of these two cultures, I created a collection that explores the balance between tradition and modernity, as well as the dialogue between Eastern and Western design. To develop innovative forms, I also explored a variety of experimental methodologies that transformed two-dimensional design into three-dimensional silhouettes. By investigating the surfaces, details, curves, and structures of objects, I developed new pattern-cutting approaches and created original structural silhouettes. The accompanying video presents the origins of the project, the development of the concept, and the intricate design details of the collection in an editorial, magazine-style format. It offers a visual narrative of how cultural exchange and personal experience informed both the creative process and the final outcome.
