Dance Performance and Teaching, BA (Hons)

I am Robyn Swift, I am from a small town in South Yorkshire but I have been living in Preston for the past 3 years. I was drawn to UCLan as facilitating dance has always been my main goal within my dance education, as well as getting the performance aspect from the course to gain more knowledge on the subject of contemporary dance.

Project overview

Final Year Dance Program

My research study focused on ‘How I introduce creative movement to pupils aged 9-16 in a private dance school".

Creative dance is movement that participants can use to express themselves or an idea, creative tasks given to support these movements can use music, objects and images as a stimulus (something that allows for a response to be given as a reaction to the material).

Within the aims of the project I was particularly interested in achieving a wide range of creativity and individuality within the participants, through the skills given to them, often following the Laban Movement Analysis, which consists of Action, Body, Space, Dynamics and relationships throughout the project, as well as the participants finding their own self-expression and presenting their ideas during sessions.
